Who is WaBo Print?
WaBo Print stands for wall and floor printing and is a business division of Hagemann Textiles in Ochtrup, Germany. We offer individually printed Technovlies® for large-format wall, floor and surface designs, using your chosen image, your own design or a design from our collection. The Technovlies® is individually printed and processed at our premises in Ochtrup.
Where can WaBo Print be used?
WaBo Print is suitable for private, commercial and public indoor spaces, including homes, offices, retail areas, points of sale, exhibition stands, events, hotels, restaurants, gyms, theatres, stages, exhibitions and public facilities. Depending on the project, the material can be used on walls, floors, acoustic panels or suitable supporting surfaces.
What is Technovlies® made of?
WaBo Technovlies® is made of 100% polyester and has a standard weight of approximately 300 g/m². Its total recycled content is 70%: 40% SEAQUAL® recycled polyester and a further 30% recycled polyester from other PET sources. The 40% SEAQUAL® content is already included in the total recycled content of 70%; it is not an additional share.
What proportion of the material is SEAQUAL® fibre?
SEAQUAL® recycled polyester accounts for 40% of the entire WaBo Technovlies®. This is part of the total recycled content of 70%. SEAQUAL® recycled polyester combines processed plastic from marine sources with other recycled post-consumer PET. A SEAQUAL® content of 40% therefore does not mean that 40% of the finished Technovlies® consists of recovered marine plastic.
What are SEAQUAL® fibres and where does the material come from?
The SEAQUAL INITIATIVE works with collection organisations, fishers, NGOs and recycling partners. Plastic waste is recovered from sources including seas, rivers, coastal areas and estuaries, sorted and processed into SEAQUAL MARINE PLASTIC. Combined with other recycled post-consumer PET, it becomes high-performance recycled polyester for textiles. According to the SEAQUAL INITIATIVE, the current processing method generates around 37% fewer CO₂ emissions and uses around 34% less water and 40% less energy than virgin polyester production.
What advantages does Technovlies® offer over rigid panels or conventional wall coverings?
Technovlies® is lightweight, flexible, rollable and suitable for very large images. It is compact to transport, quick to install and can be exchanged repeatedly when used with our hook-and-loop system. Changing the image does not require new supporting panels or additional drill holes. The material also allows large-format designs with few joins.
Is WaBo Print suitable for outdoor use?
Standard WaBo Technovlies® is primarily designed for indoor use. For sheltered or special outdoor applications, we can assess a project-specific solution. Weather, UV exposure, substrate, fixing method and intended duration of use all matter. Please contact us before using it outdoors.
Sizes, formats & ordering
Production widths, strip division and order quantities
What sizes can be produced?
WaBo Print is made to your requested dimensions. Depending on the material and production process, production widths of approximately 1.50 m or 3.00 m are available. Very long designs can be produced in one piece within these widths. Larger areas are divided into precisely matching strips.
When will my design be divided into several strips?
A design must be divided into strips if it exceeds the usable production width and cannot be produced in one piece by rotating it. Depending on the material and production variant, the division threshold is a design width of 1.55 m or 3.015 m. Before dividing the design, our system checks whether rotation can avoid unnecessary joins. The appropriate variant depends on your product and overall dimensions.
Do I need to divide my print file into strips myself?
No. Upload your design at its complete overall size. Automatic rotation, any necessary division into strips and material-specific shrinkage compensation are handled during production. You do not need to create individual production strips or add a shrinkage allowance.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
For designs from our collection, the minimum order is 10 linear metres at a material width of 150 cm, equivalent to 15 m². Different quantities may apply to your own designs, samples, custom production or project-specific solutions. Our service team can advise on the most economical option.
Your designs & online designer
Photos, logos, text, QR codes and custom designs
Can I have my own photo, logo or design printed?
Yes. You can use your own photos, logos, graphics, illustrations or complete print-ready files, provided the file quality is sufficient and you hold the necessary image, trademark and usage rights. Our artwork and design service can also assist you.
How do I create my own design in the online shop?
Open the online designer for your chosen product using the design button. Set the required final dimensions, upload your image and adjust the crop to cover the entire design area. You can then add text, graphics or QR codes. Complete the design to transfer it to your order.
Can I search for suitable images in the designer?
Yes. The online image search function lets you find suitable stock images directly in the designer. This gives you access to a wide selection without needing your own image file.
Can I add text to my design?
Yes. You can add and position names, headings, quotations, messages and other text directly in the designer. Before completing your order, carefully check spelling, line breaks, contrast and sufficient distance from the edges.
Can I include a QR code in the design?
Yes. QR codes can be added in the designer. Keep them at least 2 cm away from trim marks and outer edges. Ensure strong contrast and sufficient size, and test the finished QR code with several smartphones before ordering.
How can I tell whether my image is suitable for printing?
The online designer assesses image quality after upload and displays a corresponding message. If the quality is too low, use a higher-resolution original file where possible or reduce the print size. Screenshots, images sent through messaging apps and heavily compressed files are often unsuitable for large areas.
Is the colour preview in the online designer binding?
No. The on-screen view is a design and positioning preview. Monitors, smartphones and tablets display colours differently, and the material and printing process also affect the result. For colour-critical corporate design projects, we recommend a custom printed sample and consultation with our artwork service.
Print files & artwork service
File formats, resolution, trim and professional file checks
Which file formats can I upload?
PDF, JPG and TIF files are suitable. TIF files should be saved with LZW compression. Use the original file wherever possible and avoid unnecessary repeated compression.
What resolution should my print file have?
Your file should have a resolution of 72 to 150 dpi at the final print size. High-quality files within this range are ideal for most large-format applications. More than 150 dpi usually increases file size without providing a visible benefit at the normal viewing distance.
Which colour space should I use for my print files?
Prepare image and print files in the RGB colour space using the sRGB profile. This is particularly suitable for processing in the online designer. Please discuss spot colours and binding brand colours with our artwork service in advance and, where possible, check them using a printed sample.
At what scale can I prepare my print file?
You can prepare your file at a scale of 1:1 or 1:10. At 1:10, the width and height are each one tenth of the final dimensions, so the image resolution must be ten times higher. For example, a file at 1:10 needs 1,000 dpi to achieve 100 dpi in the finished print. Clearly specify the final dimensions and scale. In the online designer, enter the actual required final size and check the crop in the preview.
What dimensions and edge clearances should my print file have?
Prepare the file at the complete overall size ordered. Backgrounds and images intended to reach the edge must extend to the outer edge of the file. Keep important content such as text, logos and QR codes at least 2 cm from outer edges or trim marks. For wall designs, ordering slightly larger than the exact wall dimensions allows for uneven walls and minor measuring tolerances. Excess material is trimmed neatly with a sharp craft knife during installation.
Can I upload a multi-page PDF?
The shop processes only the first page of a multi-page PDF. If you want additional pages or designs printed, split the PDF into individual files before uploading.
Are my print files checked before production?
The online designer performs a basic technical quality assessment of the uploaded image. This does not include a full check of spelling, image crop, layout, brand colours or usage rights. You can book our paid artwork service for a more comprehensive professional check.
Can you help me prepare my print files?
Yes. Our artwork service can check, adapt and create print-ready files, from correcting existing files to producing a complete design. Send us the required final dimensions, any available images or logos and a short project description. We will provide a transparent estimate based on the work involved.
Samples, delivery & complaints
Material assessment, delivery times, shipping and custom production
Can I get a material sample before ordering?
Yes. Available material and design samples can be ordered for our collection designs using the sample button on the relevant product page. A sample is the best way to assess texture, material thickness, print appearance and colour under the intended lighting conditions.
Can I order a printed sample of my own design?
Yes. A custom printed sample is produced at 70 × 100 cm and currently costs €25.00. It is particularly useful for checking sharpness, colours, gradients, lettering and fine details before a larger production run.
How long do production and delivery take?
The usual production and delivery time is approximately one to two weeks from receipt of your order, provided usable print files are available. Available samples are generally dispatched within approximately two working days. For large projects, custom production or additional services, we will agree the schedule with you individually.
How are shipping costs calculated?
Shipping and packaging costs depend on dimensions, weight, packaging type and delivery destination. Add the configured product to your basket to see the shipping costs applicable to your order.
Which carrier delivers the goods?
Standard parcels are generally shipped with GLS. Very large, heavy or extensive orders may be sent with a suitable freight carrier. The shipping method is chosen to transport your goods safely and economically.
Can several orders be shipped together?
Because order processing is automated, completed orders cannot reliably be combined afterwards. Please order related products together in a single transaction wherever possible.
Is neutral direct shipping to my customer available?
Yes. Dealers and resellers can enter a different delivery address in the shop and request neutral direct shipping to their customers. Select the neutral direct shipping option when ordering and upload your own neutral delivery note directly in the shop. We will enclose it with the goods and ship directly to your customer without WaBo promotional materials.
What should I do if there is visible transport damage?
Check the packaging immediately upon delivery. If damage is substantial, refuse delivery where possible or have the driver document the damage. Photograph the packaging, shipping label and goods, and contact our service team immediately. Keep all packaging until the matter has been resolved.
Can I return or cancel a custom-made design?
Goods made to customer specifications or clearly personalised generally do not carry a statutory right of withdrawal. This applies in particular to individually printed designs and custom dimensions. Your statutory rights in the event of a defect remain unaffected. Please check dimensions, image crop, text and image quality carefully before ordering.
Installation & fixing
Walls, floors, hook-and-loop systems and professional installation
How is WaBo Print attached to a wall?
WaBo Print can be attached using our self-adhesive WaBo hook-and-loop tape, suitable double-sided adhesive tape or full-surface bonding. Both hook-and-loop tape and double-sided adhesive tape are available in our shop and can be ordered with your print. Apply the hook-and-loop tape around the prepared wall area like a frame; add vertical strips for large designs. Then press the Technovlies® down evenly. The appropriate fixing method depends on the substrate and whether you want to change the design later.
Which wall fixing method is suitable for changing designs?
Our WaBo hook-and-loop system is ideal for seasonal promotions, campaigns or regularly changing interior designs. The tape remains on the substrate while the printed Technovlies® can be removed, stored and replaced with a new design. This saves time, material and installation effort with each change.
How often can a design be changed with the WaBo hook-and-loop system?
When correctly installed, the WaBo hook-and-loop system is designed for up to 50 design changes. This requires a suitable, sound substrate, firmly pressed tape and careful handling when removing and reattaching the Technovlies®.
How should the wall be prepared before installation?
The wall must be clean, dry, dust-free and sound. Remove or repair loose paint, poorly adhering plaster and significant unevenness beforehand. For full-surface bonding, the surface should be as smooth and level as possible. Minor unevenness is generally less problematic with WaBo hook-and-loop tape, as the system can compensate for it to some extent. We recommend an adhesion test on unfamiliar substrates.
Which adhesive is suitable for full-surface wall installation?
For full-surface wall installation, use a paste or wallcovering adhesive suitable for Technovlies® and your substrate. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions and test adhesion in an inconspicuous area first. If you are unsure, we can advise on a suitable solution. Alternatively, attach the Technovlies® with WaBo hook-and-loop tape or suitable double-sided adhesive tape. Both types of tape are available in our shop.
How should hook-and-loop tape be applied for a large wall design?
First apply the tape around the perimeter as a closed frame. For longer designs, we recommend additional vertical strips approximately every 1 to 1.5 m. Press the tape firmly along its entire length using a pressure roller. This supports the design evenly and reduces gaps between the wall and the Technovlies®.
How is WaBo Print attached to a floor?
Position the floor design precisely on the prepared substrate and secure it with our suitable double-sided cloth tape. Apply the tape underneath the design around its perimeter. For larger areas, add strips within the area to ensure a secure, flat fit.
How should the floor be prepared before installation?
The floor must be clean, dry, level and free from dust, grease, moisture and loose material. Position the design without tape first and mark the corners. On sensitive floor coverings or unfamiliar coatings, test the tape in an inconspicuous area beforehand.
How are several floor strips joined together?
At each join, position the double-sided tape so that both adjacent strips adhere securely to the same tape strip. First align all strips to form the complete image, then press them down fully only after checking their final positions.
Can the adhesive or hook-and-loop tape be removed without residue?
Residue-free and damage-free removal cannot be guaranteed on every substrate. The result depends on the surface, coating, condition and how long the tape has been in use. Adhesive residue or peeling may occur on sensitive coatings. Test the tape in an inconspicuous area before installation and follow the application instructions. When changing a design with the hook-and-loop system, the self-adhesive tape normally stays on the substrate; only the Technovlies® is removed.
Can WaBo Print be attached to a supporting panel or an existing Dibond panel?
Yes. A suitable existing panel can be used as a permanent support. The WaBo hook-and-loop system allows the Technovlies® to be fitted quickly and exchanged when required. Later design changes therefore do not require new panels, drill holes or complex removal work.
Do you offer an installation service?
Yes. A professional installation service is available on request for large areas, challenging substrates and commercial projects. Send us the dimensions, installation location, substrate photos and preferred date so we can provide a project-specific assessment.
Which tools do I need for installation?
Hook-and-loop installation normally requires a tape measure, spirit level, pencil, craft knife, microfibre cloth, pressure roller and, if needed, a ladder. Full-surface bonding additionally requires adhesive, a bucket, paste roller, brush and wallpaper smoothing tool. Floor designs usually require a tape measure, marking tool, craft knife and pressure tool.
Safety & fire protection
Slip resistance, B1 and technical documentation
Is WaBo Print certified as slip-resistant?
The standard floor design is not classified as a slip-resistant floor covering. It is particularly suitable for temporary designs on exhibition stands, catwalks, stages and event areas where local conditions and safety requirements permit. If your project requires a specific slip resistance rating, please contact us before ordering.
Is WaBo Print flame-retardant and what does B1 mean?
Yes. B1 documentation is available for WaBo Print: the material is classified as flame-retardant under DIN 4102-1. B1 is the highest category among the combustible building material classes in this standard; only the non-combustible classes A1 and A2 rank above it. Flame-retardant does not mean non-combustible; it means the material meets requirements for significantly limited fire behaviour in the standardised test. This is especially relevant for exhibitions, retail areas, stages, events and many public spaces. Appropriate documentation is available for your project on request, taking the application, installation and substrate into account.
Sustainability, printing & production
SEAQUAL®, disperse dyes, waterless processing and Made in Germany
Where is WaBo Print produced?
WaBo Print is printed and processed at the premises of Hans Hagemann GmbH & Co. KG in Ochtrup, in Germany’s Münsterland region. You receive a German-made quality product backed by decades of experience in textile technology and digital printing.
What sustainability features does WaBo Print offer?
Features include a total recycled content of 70% in the Technovlies®, comprising 40 percentage points of SEAQUAL® recycled polyester and 30 percentage points of other recycled polyester, and the option to change designs on existing hook-and-loop or supporting systems. Our printing and transfer process in Ochtrup uses no process water. This applies to that production step, not the entire manufacturing chain. Used process materials are reused or recycled wherever possible.
How is Technovlies® printed?
We print WaBo Print using digital transfer or sublimation printing. The design is first printed precisely onto transfer paper, then transferred to polyester under controlled heat and pressure. The disperse dyes enter the polyester fibres rather than forming a thick surface layer. This produces brilliant colours, fine details and a durable printed result.
Which printing dyes are used?
For transfer printing, we use disperse dyes specially formulated for polyester, often called sublimation dyes. During thermal transfer, the dyes become embedded in the fibres, producing an intense, detailed image without a heavy surface layer.
Does WaBo production require water or generate wastewater?
No process water is used in the actual printing and transfer process at our Ochtrup site: water consumption for this production step is 0 litres. No washing, rinsing or dye baths are required, so our WaBo printing process does not generate dye-contaminated printing or dyeing wastewater. This statement refers to our in-house printing and transfer process, not all upstream stages of raw material production.
Why is transfer printing particularly resource-efficient?
Digital transfer printing does not require dye baths or wet post-treatment of the printed Technovlies®. The design is created digitally on demand and transferred using heat. This eliminates water treatment, washing, rinsing and subsequent drying of wet textiles in our production process. The main input is targeted heat energy for the transfer.
How does WaBo transfer printing differ from conventional wet and direct printing?
The exact resource requirements depend on the dye and textile system. Compared with conventional textile wet and direct printing processes involving pretreatment, steaming, washing and rinsing, our process offers clear advantages.
Transfer printing also requires energy for thermal dye transfer. Its key advantage is the much shorter, dry process chain without water-intensive post-treatment.
What happens to transfer paper and other process materials?
Transfer printing uses paper as a temporary dye carrier. We do not regard it as a worthless waste product: wherever possible, used process materials are passed on, reused in other processes or sent for appropriate recycling. This reduces waste and keeps materials in circulation for as long as possible.
What role does the photovoltaic system at the production site play?
We operate our own photovoltaic system on the production and warehouse roofs in Ochtrup. According to our operational energy balance, it generates more electricity than the site consumes; surplus energy is passed on or fed into the grid. WaBo Print thus combines resource-efficient printing technology with substantial on-site electricity generation.
